We Ought To Obey

   I have a saying on my refrigerator:  “The smallest good deed is better than the grandest intention.”  We all have good intentions, but do we ever put Christ into the reality of them?  We have become titular Christians, (we wear the name and title but our lives are void of the Living Lord).  We have changed the definition or connotation of the name “Christian.”  Anyone can wear the name, but this gives no entitlement to salvation without being Born Again.

   “For we are His workmanship, CREATED IN CHRIST JESUS unto good works, which God hath ordained that WE SHOULD WALK IN THEM.”  (Ephesians 2:10).  

   If we are His workmanship, (if we are born again), then WE OUGHT TO OBEY what He has ordained.  And how might we walk?  “He that saith he abideth in Him OUGHT HIMSELF ALSO SO TO WALK AS HE WALKED.”  (1 John 2:6).  We sing the song; “ALL FOR JESUS”   that explains walking as He walked.  Does that motivate, or activate our intentions?  “ALL TO LEAVE AND FOLLOW THEE,” and “WHERE HE LEADS, I WILL FOLLOW.”  

   “For even hereunto WERE YE CALLED:  because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that YE SHOULD FOLLOW HIS STEPS.”  (1 Peter 2:21).  Do we?  There is only ONE STANDARD ...
