The Enterprise of Christ

   The purpose of the Gospel of John 1:1-5 is to present Jesus as God in Christ.  We must acknowledge the essence of God in Christ in order to experience Him and engage in His enterprise.  The first step toward the worshiping of Christ as God begins with a personal experience of the reality of His resurrection, His being alive.  

   Paul tells us of his own actual experience by the Risen Christ.  Christ being alive was Paul’s life-changing event.  (1 Corinthians 9:1).  The Risen Christ caused Paul’s conversion.  (2 Corinthians 4:6; Galatians 1:15-16, 2:8).  The Resurrection of Christ produced an inward, Spiritual experience in Paul which resulted in his absolute assurance that Jesus was God, and that He was directing and empowering him as His agent of carrying on His saving enterprise in the world.  Paul’s list of appearances of the Risen Christ (1 Corinthians 15:5-7) show that others also had this same transforming experience.  An inward Spiritual experience leading and empowering them to carry on the same enterprise of Christ.  The one identical thing about all these experiences was for the purpose of being used in the enterprise of Christ.
