Remembering Scripture Made Easier

   In this article, I want to discuss three concepts that will make remembering Scripture easier.  Let’s look at: A) mnemonic peg system, B) an acrostic, and C) a simple memory aid.  By-the-way, don’t let the word “mnemonic” scare you off.  Let’s start with a definition of a mnemonic peg system.  It is a mental association between objects in a one-to-one fashion that is then applied to something you want to remember.  Here is an example of an association that we will use to help us remember the 10 plagues mentioned in chapters 7 through 11 of Exodus: 1 – run,   2 – zoo,   3 – tree.  Notice the rhyme of those three associations.  It is this rhythmic association that makes what we want to remember much easier.  Don’t ask me why, it just does.  Now let’s attach a plague as mentioned in the KJV to each peg: 1 – run - blood;  2 – zoo - frogs;  3 – tree - lice.  Repeat these three several times before reading further.  At the end of this article, I’ll talk about the 10 plagues some more.
