Wisconsin Couple Begins 'Project Africa'

CUSTER, Wis.
When God calls a person to Christian service, He makes a way where there is no way and opens doors that seem hopelessly closed. This is something that all who work in ministry come to understand. And something Roy Wanta and his wife Terry, of Custer, Wisconsin, learned many years ago.

It was 1996, and Roy and Terry were in church as usual when God called them to action. A pastor from Nigeria had come to their church to talk about the work he was doing with an orphanage there. The pastor was Bishop Ben Egbujor, who has his own story to tell.

Bishop Ben, originally from Nigeria, was pastoring in England in 1990 when God burdened him with taking the gospel and humanitarian relief to his homeland, which was (and is) suffering greatly from the AIDS epidemic. It is estimated that 65 million orphans are left behind due to HIV/AIDS, malnutrition, malaria and diabetes in Africa. With no money or resources, but with many prayers and a few Christian friends, the work began.

Manna Childrens Home was established, which now shelters more than 45 orphans. It has an attached clinic, which awaits much needed medical equipment, supplies, medicines, and angels of mercy to visit in medical teams. A Christian School was also established, which now serves about 300 students.
