Recognizing False Teachers

Q: What does the Bible say about False Teachers? How do we recognize false doctrine?

2 Peter 2:1 tells us this: But there were False Prophets also among the people, even as there shall be False Teachers among you, who privily shall bring in damnable heresies, even denying the LORD that bought them, and bring upon themselves swift destruction. God has warned us that False Teachers and False Prophets will be among usand the best way to avoid being tricked by them is to be fully grounded in Gods word.

Deuteronomy 13:1-3 warns us, If there arise among you a prophet, or a dreamer of dreams, and giveth thee a sign or a wonderand the sign or the wonder come to pass, whereof he spake unto thee, saying, Let us go after other gods, which thou hast not known, and let us serve them,.thou shalt not hearken unto the words of that prophet, or that dreamer of dreams: for the LORD your God proveth you, to know whether ye love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul.

Every Christian should to be a teacher of the Way of Jesus Christ as in Matthew 28:19. Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the Name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost.
