Living God's Will

  In a powerful prayer Paul shared with Christians, he said that he and others were, “…asking God to fill (the Colossians) with the knowledge of (God’s) will through all spiritual wisdom and understanding.  And we pray this in order that you may live a life worthy of the Lord and may please (God) in every way: bearing fruit in every good work, growing in the knowledge of God.”  (Colossians 1:9-10)

   Is that a prayer you would want someone to pray for you?  Most of us want to know God’s will and to get to know Him better plus know that what we are doing, has positive effects and good things come out of what we do.  Do you want to please or give pleasure to Jesus?  Hopefully you do.

   How can you please Jesus and live a life worthy of Him?  Think about what Paul wrote in 1 Thessalonians 4:1-7 because he talked about living your life in such a way to please God.  “It is God’s will that you should be sanctified: that you should avoid sexual immorality; that each of you should learn to control his own body in a way that is holy and honorable (verses 3-4).”

   Jesus wants us to live our lives in the ways that resembles the way He lived His holy life.  To become more and more like Jesus is the process of being sanctified.  How did Jesus treat others?  What was His attitude toward His family, friends and those who mistreated ...
