Wisdom on Making Choices

  In recent months, we have been considering what is God’s will and really focusing on God’s moral will or the Bible.  There is also God’s sovereign will, which will be discussed in the future. 

   The following is some wisdom on making choices.  Though not exhaustive, these guidelines should offer direction.  First and almost a no-brainer, ask God for wisdom.  According to James 1:5, “If any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to him.”   God’s wisdom is available to all and is pure, sincere, considerate and merciful (James 3:17).  It is the best guidance anyone can receive.  So next time you need wisdom, ask God.

   While you are asking, remember secondly to spend time in the Bible, correctly learning and obediently following the Bible.  2 Timothy 2:15 -- “Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a workman who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly  handles the word of truth.”  This will eliminate options not found in the Bible as you study the Bible, learning what will spiritually harm and fleeing, staying away from that. 

   As you are seeking God’s wisdom and working to be diligent in what you are learning from God’s Word, then you need to yield or surrender to the Holy Spirit’s leading ...
