Gods Will, Your Abilities

  Young David is a great example for young people.  As we look at David’s young life, consider what you are good at, what you enjoy or love to do?  What area of school studies do you excel in and look with glad anticipation when you can take classes in that area?  This does not necessarily mean that those classes are easy but you would rather take them compared to other subjects.  A question to ask your friends and family is what do you love to talk about and what areas of life do you get excited about?

   It would be interesting to have been one of David’s friends and on one of the days that the two of you were tending sheep together, to ask David some of those questions.  Granted he did not attend school like we have it in today’s world but there were things he loved to do, dreamed about and got excited when the conversation came up on a certain subject.  It is extremely likely that he did not have a goal to be the king of Israel someday but maybe he liked being the leader when a group of friends played a game together.

   Here are some things we do know about him.  He had a heart, a desire to get to know God (1 Samuel 16:7 - “But the Lord said to Samuel, “Do not consider his appearance or his height, for I have rejected him.
