Making Disciples in the Inner City

MILWAUKEE, Wis.
An angry young man named Ray Jablonski accepted some friends invitation to join them for a church service...if only to prove to himself that church people were all hypocrites and that church was only for the weak. Ray wasnt like them. Hed been around. Since age 16, hed been experimenting with drugs and alcohol. Soon, he became addicted and began a life on the streets, fighting, dealing drugs and drinking. Hatred and bitterness overtook his life.
But it was during that church service that Ray felt the loving, convicting power of the Holy Spirit. He was instantly delivered from his addictions. When he returned to the streets, he was a changed person -- with a new message of hope and deliverance through Jesus Christ. In 1981, Ray established Heart-Fire Ministries. From Heart-Fires humble beginnings of witnessing to students at the UW Milwaukee campus, Rays ministry has since shared the Gospel with thousands of people in the central city of Milwaukee, and beyond.
In 1984, Heart-Fire formed street witnessing teams to go out on the mean streets of inner-city Milwaukee. These faithful volunteers are able to share Christ freely and openly as they conduct relationship evangelism, learning more about individuals they meet. Each week, about a dozen volunteer evangelists set up shop on the same street corners, so people know where to find them. They provide prayer, answers and a handshake or hug to those they meet.
