Courage Is Of the Kingdom of God

A friend recently asked me to finish this sentence for him… “The Kingdom of God is _______.”

I thought about it for a long time, because there are many words that one could supply that would create a true statement. For example, the Kingdom of God is powerful; the Kingdom of God is made up of God’s people; the Kingdom of God is beautiful; the Kingdom of God is righteous...

But, while each of those statements is true, none of them on their own accurately make up a definition of what the Kingdom of God is.  Trying to keep to the challenge of a one-sentence definition that my friend asked for, I prayerfully considered and then answered, “the Kingdom of God is all things eternal.” Eternal things are often invisible to our natural eyes, but revealed to the eyes of our hearts.

Hebrews 11:1 (New American Standard Bible), “Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen.”

2 Corinthians 4:18 (English Standard Version), “...as we look not to the things that are seen but to the things that are unseen. For the things that are seen are transient, but the things that are unseen are eternal.”

Romans 4:17b (ESV), “(God) who gives life to the dead and calls into existence the things that do not exist.”
