Call A Solemn Assembly

   You are standing in the street and a bus is speeding toward you.  Aware of the sudden danger, you quickly run out of the way just in time to avoid getting run over.  Your heart is racing and everything you were thinking about moments ago vanishes in light of the near catastrophe you just avoided.

   Why did you run?  Obviously, because of the utter seriousness of the situation you found yourself in.

   Friends, the world is in turmoil, the nation is in distress, and conditions are of such a critical nature, that we can’t ignore what is happening all around us.  God calls us to awaken from our slumber, from our complacency, and our relaxed attitude to become aware of what is happening all around us, and to take action.

   Have you ever been to a bedside prayer vigil where a loved one’s life was slowly ebbing away?  Did you keep your focus on the person, the sorrowful situation, and were you in a certain degree of anguish?  Or did you take periodic breaks to go watch cartoons and comedies, and indulge in trivial nonsense, when your loved one needed you by their bedside?  You get the point!
