Will Barrett Get 'Borked?'

   On September 26, 2020 the President of the United States, Donald Trump, and as is his duty, nominated Amy Coney Barrett, an appeals court judge and University of Notre Dame law professor, for an open supreme court seat.  She will be replacing the recently deceased Ruth Bader Ginsburg who held the far left position on the court.  But in this highly politically charged era, partisan howling had already begun even prior to her nomination.

   The first leftist salvo came with the anticipated whining about not deciding on a new justice until next year. So let’s get that out of the way first.  The argument here is that it’s an election year, so hold off for the next President and Senate.  If we are honest and follow the logic here, it really makes no sense at all and here is why.   If the election results are really that important — in this case for a court appointment — then would it not follow that we should as well consider suspending all other Presidential and even congressional daily activities in deference to political campaigns?  

   Let me give you an example or two how this might work.  During this proposed election year duty lull, what happens if the current President of the United States commits an impeachable offense four months before a Presidential election campaign is over?
