Christ the Light -- Illumination!

   Not so long ago, we celebrated the Christmas season. One of the customs associated with the Christmas season are the lights that decorate homes and the streets of many of our cities and towns.  There is something about all of those lights that appeals to people. Yet, how many in the community celebrated Christmas by taking a car ride to see the lights or hanging lights outside their home knowing nothing of the true Light of Christmas?  Sadly, many of those who see the colorful lights and recognize it as the Christmas season fail to recognize the true Light that came into the world.

   There are different word pictures in the Scriptures; one of which is found in the first few verses of John’s Gospel where Christ is spoken of as the “Light.” John 1:9 declares, “[Christ] was the true Light, which lighteth every man that cometh into the world.” Christ is the Light of the world. By now, you have probably taken down your Christmas light decorations, but Christ is the Light of the world every day of the year; as such, He should be the center of not just Christmas time but every day of the year.
