I am amazed that so many people do not remember The 1973 Roe vs. Wade decision and that it was done by US Supreme Court, not by Democrats nor Republicans in Congress. US Supreme Court Chief Justice Warren Burger assigned Justice Harry Blackmun, (both Minnesota GOP presidential appointees), the case and it was decided with Republican appointed majority votes.
I was a member of Minnesota House that year and one of my Democratic colleagues introduced a Pro-Life House Resolution asking US presidents and Congress to pass a bill so states could ratify and ban abortion from conception to natural death. The Resolution passed in the House and Senate Democratic Majorities and was sent to Washington. None of the presidents supported it except Jimmy Carter, who could not get Congress to pass the bills. Unfortunately this moral issue has been a political foot-ball so long.
