We Are Undeserving of God’s Great Mercy

   I’ve often thought about the suffering of the LORD at His scourging and crucifixion. Likely every person has felt pain, but few if any as HE endured.  Some say His whole life on earth was painful, anyone with even a little empathy may understand that.
 
   The Bible relates some examples of His  frustration with even His closest disciples. Yet, He didn’t suffer for His sins, but ours. I can not speak for any one else, but ask you to think about that. For every murder, He  suffered, for every rape, He suffered, every theft, every heartbreak, every lie, He suffered! The list of our sins goes on and on, from Adam’s day up to the present. Oh, how infinite is His mercy. When I think about it in that context, “forgive us our debts as we forgive our debtors,” I’m ashamed that far too often I’ve fallen very short. By the Mosaic law, Cain deserved execution, but HE had not yet set such a law. His mercy was evident then, just as with the sin of Adam and Eve. The Bible is also full of many other individual examples of His mercy.
