White As Snow

Complimentary Story
It is snowing this morning. The earth is covered with a white blanket. All the dirt and tracks of any kind are covered. It is beautiful! “Come now, and let us reason together, saith the Lord: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow: though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool. If ye be willing and obedient, ye shall eat the good of the land: But if ye refuse and rebel, ye shall be devoured with the sword: for the mouth of he Lord hath spoken it.” (Isaiah 1:18-20).

Get the picture? Sins as scarlet cannot be hid, or red like crimson are obviously something that cannot be hid! You are a very bad person and anyone who knows you, thinks of you as bad. They see you as someone that they do not want to get too close to because they do not want to be identified with you as a friend.

Well now, what does God say about you? Does God see you as someone to be ignored and refused? No, God gives you an invitation to “come” and He says to do it right now! He even appeals to your reason. He promises to cover that obnoxious red that everyone sees and make it as white as snow. He does put an “if” in the promise to cover the sins. “If ye be willing and obedient” is the condition. We ask “willing for what and obedient to what?”

God provided a way for us to be saved. And you must be willing to be saved. You must want to be controlled by God instead of Satan. That is a story all its own and it is what we call the Gospel of Jesus. Jesus said,  “For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.”

God designed Calvary where Jesus offered Himself in the most ignoble death as a sacrifice for our sins. Satan tells us that it is ridiculous to believe this Gospel, but that is what we must do if we will be saved. Jesus not only died for us but He also taught us how to live. He gave us commands and He said; “If you love Me keep My commandments.” He also provides the power to obey His commands. He gives us His Holy Spirit to live in our heart and makes us a new person, someone changed and very different from what we were.

The condition of having our sins made as white as snow is “if ye be willing and obedient.” “If ye refuse and rebel, ye shall be devoured by the sword.” This lines up with John 3:16. “Whosoever believeth in Him shall not perish.”

The only obstacle is the human will. Satan tells us many lies and stands in the way and opposes us. But the prospect of having our ugly sins taken away is glorious. And promises that accompany faith are not to be compared to the awful fate that awaits the unbeliever!

When God says how it will be, that is the way it will be. Before our beginning text, God said this: “Wash you, make you clean, put away the evil of your doings from before Mine eyes, cease to do evil: learn to do well; seek judgment, relieve the oppressed, judge the fatherless, plead for the widow.” (Isaiah 1:16-17).

Sin always contaminates and makes us dirty. But we can be made clean if we are willing to believe and obey Jesus. Thank God for the Blood of Jesus that makes us white as snow! And thank God for Jesus who is the Way, the Truth, and the Life!
