How good is your word? When you say you are going to do something, do you follow through on it? Think about the people who have said they were going to do something for or with you and never came through. There are times that we sincerely and honestly forget but if we simply say something to get people off our back, or we have a dishonest heart, that is a major issue that needs to be dealt with.
Jesus shared a parable from Matthew 21:28-32, about two sons and the meaning of the story has deep spiritual implications along with giving your word. “A man with two sons told the older boy, ‘Son, go out and work in the vineyard today.’ The son answered, ‘No, I won’t go,’ but later he changed his mind and went anyway. To the other son, the father also said, ‘You go,’ and he said, ‘Yes, sir, I will.’ But he didn’t go. “Which of the two obeyed his father?” The chief priests and elders replied, “The first.”
Then Jesus explained his meaning:
