Most children are focused on video games, movies, sports, their cellphones/social media, activities and other self-serving priorities. Not that our children are not interested in these things too, but we are very blessed that they see the level of this current Holocaust we are in when most parents and professing Christians, do not even see it (or ACT like it!).
But, this does not happen by accident. God is very clear that we need to “Train up a child in the way he should go; even when he is old, he will not depart from it.” (Proverbs 22:6).
This means that the opposite is true, train them up in the way that they SHOULD NOT GO, and when they are older, they will not depart from that!
I hear Christians often say, we are not responsible for our children’s decisions and actions when they become adults. And this is true. However, we are certainly responsible for how we model being a Christian through their childhood!
And, one consistent example that I see proven again and again is, those who are “lukewarm” BREED lukewarmness to their children. Just as a child raised in devout Catholicism will very likely stay a Catholic; a Lutheran raised as a devout Lutheran, will stay a Lutheran, those who are “lukewarm” will stay lukewarm.
