Matthew 5, 6, 7 records the teachings of Jesus considered the Sermon on the Mount. Jesus ended His teaching with this: “Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of Mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man that built his house upon a rock: and the rain descended, and the floods came, and the wind blew and beat upon that house; and if fell not, for it was founded upon a rock. And every one that heareth these sayings of Mine and doeth them not, shall be likened unto a foolish man, which built his house upon the sand: And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house, and it fell: and great was the fall of it.”
God’s truth is the solid rock and human reasoning is the sand. Satan continually appeals for us to be “reasonable.” The soul that believes; “In the beginning God created” and accepts all that follows those words has a Rock foundation. Those who apply “reason” to what they read in the Bible change their thinking from time to time and from generation to generation. The result is a very unstable world as we see it today.
