What Difference Does It Make? (Part 5)

   How did the children of Israel respond to the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, for His faithfulness in bringing them to the land of promise?  In Judges Chapters 2 and 3 we see from God’s perspective that His promise of a blessing, and His promise of a curse in Deuteronomy chapter 28 are both valid promises which He will always keep, depending on our choices.  Mankind will always have a free will to choose to obey, or not obey.  But God alone determines the consequences of our choices!

   In Judges 2:1- 3:7, the angel of the Lord describes their choices, and their consequences.  “I made you to go up out of Egypt, and have brought you into the land which I sware unto your fathers; and I said I will never break my covenant with you.  And ye shall make no league (1285-covenant) with the inhabitants of this land; ye shall throw down their altars: but ye have not obeyed my voice: Why have ye done this?  (When it is recorded twice that they said, “The Lord our God will we serve, and His voice we will obey.”)  Wherefore I also said, I will not (changing His mind to) drive them out from before you; but they shall be as thorns in your sides, and their gods shall be a snare unto you… And there arose another generation after them, which knew not the Lord, nor yet the works which He had done for Israel, and the children did evil in the sight ...
