What Difference Does It Make? (Part 6)

   Last time we reviewed the life of Solomon and I asked, Does it make a difference in what we believe and do?  Yes it does, because even though God is in control as far as His plans and His purpose, it will happen with or without us.  God said His word “shall not return unto Me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.” (Isaiah 55:11).  But our choices do change the consequences, and the course of history.  

   Saul was promised a forever kingdom (I Samuel 13:13-14), but because of his bad choices, it was taken away and given to David.  And upon David passing, God promised to further establish the forever kingdom with his son Solomon in I Chronicles 17:11-14.  Then in I Kings 11:1-13 we see Solomon’s bad choices, again the forever kingdom was taken from Solomon.  Only the one tribe, Judah, was given to his son Rehoboam (I Kings 11:13).  By the time Solomon’s kingdom was rend from him, the kingdom of Israel was never to be the same, the kingdom was forever divided, even though the problem did not start with Solomon.  This blatant disregard for the commands of God started with Adam and Eve which only continued to get worse.  And God continues to deal with the rebellion of man as He promised He would!
