On the Road to Emmaus

   “Now behold, two of them were traveling that same day to a village called Emmaus, which was seven miles from Jerusalem.  And they talked together of all these things which had happened. So it was, while they conversed and reasoned, that Jesus Himself drew near and went with them. But their eyes were restrained, so that they did not know Him.” (Luke 24:13-16 NKJV).

   As I was thinking about this the other day, it occurred to me that it would be awesome to be on the road to Emmaus having Jesus open the Scriptures and expound upon them showing every place in the Old Testament where His death, burial, and resurrection was foretold. Wouldn’t it be a remarkable thing to have the Living Savior unlock the pages of Scripture as you walk with Him? Then it occurred to me, that we all can have that very thing in our personal walk with Jesus.

   As believers in Christ, we walk every day with our Savior who dwells within us. In fact, if you think about it, we have a lot greater distance to go than seven miles and a lot more time with Jesus than that seven-mile journey would have provided for those two disciples.

   You and I have the benefit of having the complete revelation of God through Christ Jesus our Lord on the pages of Scripture which we know is the Word of God. These disciples in Jesus’ time had only the Old Tes ...
