When an Unclean Spirit Leaves a Man...

Please explain the following Scripture, and what it means in our lives today:
When an unclean spirit leaves a man... he says let me return to my house ... then he goes and takes seven other spirits more wicked than himself, and they enter and dwell there. And the last state of that man is worse than the first. (Matt: 12:43-45).

What I believe the Bible is telling us in this passage goes far beyond unclean spirits and into our very conversion to Christ. There are some who sincerely receive Christ as their personal Savior, but they never grow in Christ, they dont bother to read and study their Bibles or pray...they never become a part of a church family that can encourage and strengthen their walk with the Lord. Their life has little or no evidence of a real walk with God. Even though their house was swept clean, it remained empty, and the enemy quickly came back and moved right back in with all his bad habits, sin, and hangups. If we dont fill that empty space with the things of God and His Spirit, the devil will come right back into our life and re-fill that void with sin and worldliness.
Ephesians 5:18 says, And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit. In Proverbs 26:11 it describes it like this, As a dog returneth to his vomit, so a fool returneth to his folly. 2 Peter 2:20-22 also shares a similar thought where ...
