What Good Can Come of This?

What is one good thing that has come out of this? The counselor asked my husband, Todd, and me this question. We looked at each other with a sense of wonderment had she actually just asked us that question? Neither one of us knew what to say; this was an easy answer. Nothing. Absolutely nothing. Thats what has come out of this. Nothing good, thats for sure. Suddenly, at the exact same moment, we both realized this was not true. One good thing had come of this horrible situation.

The company that he worked for conducted traffic control; the orange barrels, barricades, cones and flashers were all part of their daily tasks. I always worried about him at work, but I didnt want to hear about the close calls he experienced as drivers didnt slow down through the construction zone. What good would become of my constant worry? As the years went by, I grew accustomed to his long hours and dangerous work.

Then, one day, everything changed. During the last week of June 2005, my husband was working road construction near Menomonie on Interstate 94. While working on that hot summer morning, my husband was standing on a ladder, removing a construction sign. A semi truck driver, who had apparently fallen asleep, careened through the median.
