Can God be Trusted?

Q: The Bible states several times that God will never leave us or forsake us - (Deut 31:6; Josh 1:5;Hebrews 13:4-6). But what about all the Christians who have been persecuted and martyred through the ages? What hope can we have in the promises of Gods faithfulness in the trials and hardships we face today, when it appears He abandons His followers and allows them to come to harm?

At first glance it is easy to take things out of context making these verses seem to say that Christian folks will be somehow protected and isolated from all the trials and problems that are all around us. Lets just imagine for a minute how this world might be if Christians were protected from all harm or bad things 24/7 while the world around them was filled with pain and suffering. If that were the case, how could we understand what they were going through, let alone reach them for Christ? The world could cry fouland rightfully so.

It would be mighty easy to walk the Christian walk if we were protected from all the bad. That is exactly what Satan accused God of doing and Satan cried foul in Job 1:9-11... Then Satan answered the LORD, and said, Doth Job fear God for nought?Hast not thou made an hedge about him, and about his house, and about all that he hath on every side? thou hast blessed the work of his han ...
