'Hate Speech'

Christians in this country were outraged when Barak Obama made the comment that "America is not a Christian nation." And while his statement certainly rubbed many of us the wrong way, he was not far from the truth. We must face the fact that we're living today in a "post-Christian" world. It does none of us any good to keep our heads buried in the sand. We need to understand the world we're living in. Because the world is angry - and more and more, true biblical Christians are becoming the targets of the world's anger.

While our country was founded on godly standards by godly men and women, we, as Christians, have not kept the faith, nor have we stepped up to our responsibility of being salt and light in our communities. In fact, I am sad to say that most who claim the name of Christ today have become so apathetic that the chaos of the enemy reigns in our nation and our neighborhoods, and just as the Scripture predicted, we now typically call evil "good" and good "evil."

Virtually any time a Bible-believing Christian stands up for truth and righteousness, he or she is ridiculed and viciously attacked. Let me give you an example. Several weeks ago in my town, Pastor Jon Guenther of Trinity Lutheran Church sent a letter to the editor of the local daily newspaper. He was writing on the topic of homosexuality.
