MAUSTON, Wis.
She came to Mauston at age 18, pregnant with her first child, starting her adult life as a single mom. Life was difficult, and she worked in various food service positions to support herself and her son. Over the years, she worked her way up, until one day she found herself the manager of three restaurants...and an alcoholic.
Then one day a friend gave her a book by Chuck Swindoll entitled, Living Beyond the Daily Grind. This book literally changed her life, as it led her to Gods Word. As she read, she became hungry for more - more of the Word and more of God Himself.
She and her husband, Ben, began attending the Bible Baptist Church in Mauston, because they teach the true Word there, and thats what we so desperately needed, she said. Theyre still members there today, and in fact, all of her children and many of their extended family members have since become Christians.
But the story doesnt end there. Even though active in their church, God was calling the Sweeneys to step out in faith and move from the secular business world to more full time ministry.
