Move!

   There is no room for “status quo” in Christ’s discipleship plan. Christ’s focus is on passionate action!  There is “move”-ment in Christ’s plan.

 

   Jesus’ disciples were on the “go” from Day One. Indeed that was the word that helped to summarize their mission on the day of transition, when Christ returned to heaven.  Jesus said, “Go….”  (Matthew 28:19a).  Yes, there was action in that commissioning plan!

 

   One of the challenges for the church today is that among laity (and sometimes leaders as well) there is more “No” than “Go.”  There is more passivity than action -- even when it comes to becoming a disciple for Christ.  What a sharp contrast to Christ’s plan: to change the world as His Spirit worked through equipped disciples!

 

   There is a focus on “move”-ment in discipleship. This is two-fold:

 

   1).  The Spirit “moves” in the heart, mind and soul of each believer to make them active, effective spokespeople for Christ.  And,

 

   2).  We may need to make a “move” to fulfill Christ’s plan. There is a “where” that may be relevant, to fulfill the “what” of the mission.
