Battleground: The House of the Lord

Complimentary Story

Editor, Wisconsin Christian News:
As I sat in the church service listening to the pastor, my wife elbows me in the ribs and says “look, that guy has a gun in church!”  I look, and sure enough, protruding below his flannel shirt was a gun barrel.  So we left the service.
I emailed the pastor and was told they are taking a proactive approach to church violence with guns by allowing members to carry guns in the church.
I sent them back a letter telling them unless they remove guns from the house of the Lord, I will not be attending their services again.  I am told other churches are quietly allowing the same thing to occur across our state. Many not even telling their members about it.
If the Lord were to talk to these churches, He would say, “Oh ye of little faith, Ye hippocrites of little faith.” (God said Fear not, for thou art with thee!) In 2nd Corinthians 10:4, “For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds.”
By allowing guns in the sacred house of the Lord, it defiles the house of God and defiles one’s faith in God. Not to mention it is to commit blasphemy to your faith in the Lord. To the point the Lord would say, “oh ye of little faith, ye hippocrites.” By allowing guns in the church you have already allowed the enemy to win.  Because he has got you to give up your faith in God and replace it with a weapon.
Am I anti gun? Not in the least, I have many, but never in a million years, would I desecrate the Lord’s house, by bringing one into a worship service. Have you not heard of the story of George Washington, while in battle for this country and while riding his horse and commanding his troops in battle as he rode back and forth among the soldiers commanding them. After the battle, when he dismounted from his horse he found that his coat was riddled with bullet holes as was his hat. Not one drop of blood was found, because he was protected by the divine intervention of God, because he placed his faith in God almighty, he did not have a mark on him.
I have asked over 6 dozen people about their take on having guns in church and I was told by just one,  that said it was a good idea. So where do the Pastors and Deacons get off by allowing this blasphemous act to be committed? Is it legal? Yes, it is! Is it a Christian act?  Not by God’s standard. Is it an act against one’s faith in God to protect them?  I say, yes it is.
If the church is so concerned about the safety of the members during the service, then lock the doors once service begins and have someone at the door as to not allow anyone in that may be carrying a gun.  I would put a sign on the doors, saying, “no guns allowed in God’s house -- we serve the King of Kings and Lord of Lords. God is our weapon of choice.”
If we cower, to allowing guns into our worship services, the devil has won and ye of little faith will have lost.
Guns in public, I am all for.  But not in the sacred house of the Lord, as this is an act of blasphemy, unto our faith in the Lord.  What kind of example are we setting for our children? That they need to carry a gun in school then? If we need one in God’s house, surely, we now need one in school. If you allow even one member to carry in church you must then allow any nut case to carry a gun in church. Is this what the churches want?
Our faith in God is the most highly sacred thing we have.  It is the glue that binds all Christians in Christ Jesus together.  We must never defile that Faith, for anyone, or anything. God is our weapon of choice in the house of the Lord. Any other way we will surely fall short of God’s Blessings.
