Comments on 'Church, Do You Love Me?'

I would like to commend Matthew Haugen on his article in last month’s Wisconsin Christian News, entitled ‘Church, Do You Love Me?’.  I hope all of you read it and appreciated it as much as I did.  The only additional comments he could have made would have been to show practically what he meant in relation to God’s law.  I would like to add that additional thought which the Bible brings out as very important in the last days.  It has to do with keeping God’s commandments.
   In John 14:15, and 1 John 5:3, God, through John, says, “If you love Me, keep My commandments.”  We all know that we can’t buy salvation by keeping the Ten Commandments; but, at the same time, if we don’t keep His commandments we show we do not love Him as we say we do! Heaven will ONLY be for those who show their love for Him by their actions.  In general, the Christian church of today has negated the importance of the Ten Commandments.  Either they claim that the Ten Commandments have been “nailed to the cross” and are not necessary today, or Christ’s grace makes their importance null and void.
