Judgement in the Last Days

   In the prophetic chapters in the book of Daniel, (especially 2,7, and 8), we find a seven-fold pattern which ties these chapters together.  Each chapter starts with four kingdoms (chap. 8 leaves out the first kingdom for a reason), the 5th step is the division of the 4th kingdom, the 6th step is some kind of judgment scene, and the 7th step is the establishment of God’s kingdom at the coming of Christ.
   As you read these chapters, it isn’t hard to follow these seven steps, and compare them within each chapter. What I want to hone in on today is the judgment step in each chapter.
   In chapter 2, the judgment is described by the rock which hits the large statue, and grinds the nations to pieces, in preparation for the kingdom of God to come.
   In chapter 7 however, it gets much more specific. There is a court scene pictured in verses 9-10.  God the Father and His angels are pictured as being involved in opening the heavenly record books and judging the nations from what they find therein.  Christ isn’t mentioned there, but from John 5:22, 27 we understand that Jesus is intimately involved with this judgment. So He is in the judgment scene here pictured. We see Him two verses later being brought to the Father as king, when the judgment ends, to receive His kingdom that will last forever (v. 13,14).
