The Third Person of the Godhead -- the Holy Spirit

The doctor put his stethoscope on the little boys’ chest to listen to his heartbeat and asked, “Is Yogi in there?” The little boy replied, “No. Jesus is in my heart. Yogi’s on my tee-shirt.” The same can be true for you and me. Though we cannot see Him, it is a wonderful reality that Jesus can permanently reside within us through the presence of the Holy Spirit.

However, polls by the Barna research group show a troubling trend. That most Christians (regardless of denomination) believe in God, and that Christ died for their sins—but little else. By their actions (or lack thereof) they live in a life of denial or contradiction. 

A basic requirement of our Christian faith is the existence of the Trinity, which is the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. These three persons make up the Godhead, and each has His own distinct purpose. The Father is the creator, His Son our Savior, and the Holy Spirit our helper.     

I believe the major problem within our churches today is a result of ignorance or denial of the third person in the Trinity—the Holy Spirit. I have searched, and my findings are that there are very few Spirit filled churches around. The lack the Holy Spirit at work within our Christian community can be documented by the mess our world is in—including the Christian church.
