October is Respect Life month. We take time to be thankful for the gift of life -- our spouses, children, grandchildren and other family and friends. We are each unique and blessed with our own special talents. And yet, somehow, we as a society have deemed life for some to be inconvenient to our society -- the unborn, the elderly, the disabled, the homeless, those with mental illnesses and other illnesses. How have we become so judgmental about those less able or fortunate than we?
Our faith has been challenged, and without faith, our laws become meaningless. Roe v. Wade became the law of the land and made abortion legal, and removed fathers from the decision of whether an unborn child will live or die. He had a part in the creation process but has been eliminated from the decision about what’s best for his child. The decision is the woman’s choice, so the law says.
