Muslims Claim to Believe in job

   The Bible gives the account of Job in forty-two chapters; however, the Qur’an only mentions Job in four places. In Qur’an 4:163 and 6:84 only his name is given among a list of other names. I am very surprised how Muslims can understand the story of Job by reading the very brief information in Qur’an 21:83 and 38:41-44. In other words, how can Muslims understand forty-two chapters of the book of Job when they are condensed into six verses? 

   So who was Job? Muslim scholar Ibn Kathir’s answer was that Ibn Isaac said Job was a man from Byzantium. That’s foolishness because Job was an Arab, but Arab Muslims do not know that.  The Bible in Job 1:1, 3 stated Job was from the land of Uz and was the (greatest) man who lived in the land of the East. 

   Uz is sometimes identified with the kingdom of Edom, roughly in the area of modern-day southwestern Jordan and southern Israel. Lamentations 4:21 reads:  “Rejoice and be glad, O daughter of Edom, You who dwell in the land of Uz!” ... According to the Dead Sea document “The War Scroll,” the land of Uz existed somewhere beyond the Euphrates River, possibly in relation to Aram.  Whichever the case, it is clear that the reference is to someone from an Arab land to the East, not a Byzantine.
