Jesus is Still in the Boat!

   Here I am, sitting on a bench, it’s a beautiful sunny Sunday afternoon, Early May.  I’m not in a boat on the sea of Galilee, but along the beautiful Namekogon river. The river is flowing by rapidly, “full to the brim.” It’s not that peaceful river it becomes midsummer. 

   The river, too, is an example of life itself. Peaceful, serene at times... and then troublesome, rough, you might want to add. 

   I’m now that three-score-and-ten-plus guy. Life has been full of its ups and downs these past almost 50 years being a “born again” Christian. He never said the Chrisitan life was going to be a “bowl of cherries.” 

   But this one thing I know; Jesus is still in the boat with me, amen. 

   Read the story written by gospel writer Mark in Mark 4:35-41.  It tells of the disciples with Jesus in the boat on the Sea of Galilee. The fierce storm arises that’s about to do the crew in. They wake Jesus who was sleeping saying, “don’t You care if we perish?” Jesus gets up and said to the sea, “Peace, be still!” and it became calm. 

   Now, I believe most of us reading this message have cried out to Jesus to calm our storms more than once. Yet He didn’t always answer our prayer our way. Why not?  I no longer ask &ldq ...
