Mohammed the ‘Prophet of Peace and Love’

   If you ask Muslim believers what they think of their prophet Mohammed, they will say that he is the best of the creatures and that he is the prophet of peace and love as Allah stated in Qur’an 21:107: “And we did not send you except as a mercy to the worlds.”

   But have Muslims read the interpretation of this verse by Muslim scholars?  What does Allah mean by saying that Mohammed is a mercy to the worlds?  Do we find any verses in the Qur’an to prove that Mohammed was merciful? 

   In the interpretation of this verse by the great Muslim scholar Ibn Kathir, he stated that Mohammed said, “I swear by the one who holds my soul in his hand I will surely kill them and I will surely crucify them and I will surely guide them even though they hate it. Surely Allah sent me as mercy and he will not let me die until Allah reveals his religion….” So what is the mercy of Mohammed here? The answer is simply for people to accept Islam by their free will or against their free will.
