To be brief, I would suggest four main points:
1) DOCTRINE. The Puritans understood clearly that what a man believed profoundly affected the way he conducted his life.
2) OUR VIEW on what it means to fear God.
3) THE PREVAILING WIND of “escapism” in our churches.
4) A GENERAL DOWNGRADE to replacing what should be WORSHIP to levity and “entertainment.”
As concerning doctrine, we read Christ’s words in John 7:17, “If any man will do His will, he shall know of the DOCTRINE (singular), whether it be of God or whether I speak of myself.”
