Anyone with even a short track record of attending a “Bible believing” church has had multiple encounters with those who constantly chatter about “going up soon.” Believers look forward to residing in our undeserved heavenly home provided by a most gracious God, but Matthew 25:13 says “for ye know neither the day nor the hour wherein the Son of man cometh.” Mark 13:32 declares, “But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels which are in heaven, neither the Son, but the Father.”
If only God the Father knows the exact time of his sinless Son’s second coming, then what are we supposed to do until that day arrives? Matthew 28-19:20 is known as the Great Commission, and to obey this order from our commander, Jesus Christ, requires at least a measure of deliberate prayer, planning and effort along with time outside the confines of the church building.
