Has God Called us to be Angry Christians?

   Have you ever had to do step 4 of a 12 step Anonymous program? How about voluntarily? I had to do mine. If you are a recovering addict or a believer in Jesus you should have and should be continuing to do so. The 4th step is “Made a searching and fearless moral inventory of ourselves.” Step 10 is “Continued to take personal inventory of ourselves and when we were wrong promptly admitted it.” 

   Lamentations 3:40 states “Let us examine our ways and test them, and let us return to the Lord.” 2 Cor. 10:5b “take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.” Romans 12: 2 tells us “be transformed by the renewing of your mind.” 

   I was an angry Christian for many years. It wasn’t until going through therapy that I discovered the strong hold to the driving force behind my anger. I was raped by a neighbor man, physically abused by a brother and abandoned by my parents all by age 15. I had a right to be angry. Right? My anger served me well on the wrestling mat and the football field, in my youth, but was destructive to most, if not all, my adult relationships. I had a Bible college degree and had been a Christian for 20 years before I ever did a step 4. Wasn’t I just magically supposed to be like Christ?
