No, this isn’t a quiz; “Which came first, the chicken or the egg?” Nor should there be any doubt which comes first, the great a-shaking or a great awakening. It’s becoming obvious there is not going to be the much needed, much sought after and prayed for great spiritual awakening, without first the great a-shaking as prophesied.
We’ve read of spiritual awakenings that have occurred in the past in answer to prayers. Concerned Christians today believe this may be our last hope, and God’s intervention.
The question is, has this nation crossed the rubicon point of no return? Maybe not! We read in the Bible, the book of Jonah, of a very wicked city, Nineveh, to be destroyed, if they didn’t repent. However, remarkably they did repent, heeding the warning by God’s prophet, Jonah, and were spared. A key plea is found in Psalm 80:3, “Turn us again, O God, and cause Thy face to shine, and we shall be saved.”
It’s the turning — our repentance — that will be required, but this may not happen without a-shaking first, to prompt the awakening. We’ve already been warned by the Word of God to no avail.
