Will You Hear Those Words: ‘Well Done?’

Complimentary Story
Do you really expect to hear the Lord say, “Well done, good and faithful servant, thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over many things, enter into the joy of the Lord?” (Matthew 25:21).  Or, do you think you will be in tears, knowing the Lord gave His all for you and you thought mostly about yourself?

Sorry.  But it’s not too late.  I to was a late starter myself. First, it was giving “compassion food baskets” for Christmas, and then the four turkeys for Pacific Garden Mission in 1977. Since then, I’ve been busy just being His servant.

My mission work started after visiting my daughter and son-in-law in Zambia, Africa  in 2006. It started with just $5.00  worth of ends and pieces from the saw mill, that also turned into “Goats for Grandmas.”  A year later it is going strong, even today while I’m writing. I also do sewing machines, bicycles for pastors, and I’m on my 9th water well for Africa and much more. I’m now 83 and still Rob’s paper boy in Northern Wisconsin  and Northern  Minnesota for Wisconsin Christian News.  What’s your excuse?

My car is a 2005 Mercury and I’m only on Social Security, no pension. I still know I’ll be in tears meeting my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ when I meet Him in heaven.  I, too,  am coming up short compared to what He did for me. He gave His all for you and me.

I do hope and pray you are reading this message. I feel a little bit uncomfortable. You too, like myself, get only one ticket in this trip called “life.”  How are you going to finish your journey?  I’m still being His servant, but not quite like I started. I’m still in the game!  Are you finding that sitting in the bleachers is getting a little harder? Then why not get in the game?

I don’t know what “inning” it is for you.  But I am in the ninth inning. At the age of 80, I got off the bench and became a better dad to my 48 year old son, who lives with me, better late than never.

Some reading this message are widows, whose husbands gave their all in the service for our great country.  I, too, was in the service, but not in the war.  You men who were in the service can understand better than most, giving your life for a friend. Now, you all have no excuse to finish well! Remember you just have the one ticket.

Enjoy serving Him! Maybe you’re not sure you have the right ticket? Please see my “Must be born again” message.
