Although my oriental driver insisted he understood English, I soon discovered otherwise. I admit it was an exhilarating experience watching my diminutive, but eager, driver running briskly through the streets of Hong Kong pulling a rickshaw carrying his naive 22 year old passenger from across the sea.
Unfortunately, what should have been a 20 minute ride to a nearby church ended up being a 50 minute ride to a Geisha Dance Club on the other side of town. My rickshaw driver had no idea where I wanted to go and I had no idea where he was taking me. An unhappy ending for sure. The words of Hosea 4:6 rang loud and clear that day: “My people perish for lack of knowledge.”
