The Loving Choice of Life

       Easter has come, and with it the promise of new life through Christ. He is the Savior and source of forgiveness for all of our sins and transgressions.  Through His death we have been cleansed and given a life of promise for salvation. How would we ever manage without His forgiveness?

   As a Christian, I believe that we have a responsibility to share God’s forgiveness with those around us. As I have now reached the ripe old age of 70, my eyes have really begun to see how much we need to forgive those around us, for all the shootings, robberies, road rage, drugs, alcoholism, prostitution and pornography, to name just a few of our social problems. Hard as it is to forgive people who commit these heinous crimes, as Christians, God calls us to be forgiving. He tells us to turn the other cheek. How many of us do this? I know I have failed at times.

  Let’s examine things on a smaller scale, a pregnancy resulting from too much drinking; a date rape; a violent sexual assault or simply a  woman’s inability to say “No” and  gives into a moment of passion. The end result: pregnancy. Where does she go now? Who will help her?

   Ideally, she will turn to her family, whom the young woman believes and trusts will help her. In most cases, yes, her family will help her make a choice — ideally adoption or single parenthood with help from her fami ...
