'Whom Say Ye That I Am?'

It is becoming more and more difficult for people to answer the question posed by Jesus to His disciples: “Whom do men say that I am?”

Many have no clue, and have a ‘care-less’ attitude; Some are ignorant and just plain indifferent.  Then there is the lack of pulpit leadership; no equipping of the saints, (Ephesians 4:11-16) and neglect on the part of the pew-sitters to read, study and prove the Bible. (Acts 17:11; 1 Thessalonians 5:21).

Many worship an unknown god; and others give Jesus a false or mistaken identify.  They equate Him with other historical men, or they call Him: “The man upstairs,” “a mere prophet,” “allah,” “an indulgence peddler, i.e. give-to-get guy,” and many other myths and illusions.  He is not an ordinary man, and He cannot be classified as one; and NO MAN can be classified with Him.  ALL men are fallible, born in sin and need God.  Jesus was Incarnate, without sin, and He is God.

When Jesus came into the coast of Caesarea Phillippi, He asked His disciples, saying, “Whom do men say that I, the Son of man am?” (Matthew 16:13) And they said, “Some say that Thou art John the Baptist: Some, Elias; and others, Jeremias, or one of the prophets.” (Matthew 16:14).
