In today’s rhetoric-filled 2020 political campaign, I see a distinct parable-like comparison between the Venus Flytrap plant and the contingent of candidates seeking the 2020 Democratic Presidential Nomination. Allow me to explain as we examine the true motives of each.
The Venus Flytrap is a carnivorous plant native to the wetlands on the East Coast of the United States. To attract flies or other prey, the plant secretes nectar onto its open trap-like leaves. Insects smell the sweet nectar and land on the inviting leaves. Tiny hairs on the leaves then trigger a trap-like motion that causes the leaves to instantly shut, trapping the unsuspecting insect — which is soon devoured as food.
Consider the similar traits and actions of the 2020 Democratic Presidential Candidates. To attract the interest of voters, these left-leaning ideologists are offering the “sweet nectar” of Socialism in hopes of capturing voters at the 2020 ballot box. Knowing full well they have little chance of carrying out their wild and wacky promises, these radical leftists nevertheless tempt voters with the promise of no obligation handouts, including Free Healthcare, Free College Tuition, Free Childcare, Free Abortio ...
