Christians Need to Support Christian Education

   After reading Pete Hendrickson’s mid-September article, “Save the Children, Save the Future,” (WCN, Volume 20, Issue 5), which talked about the negative, and even harmful effects on our nation’s children, and, inevitably on the U.S. itself, I decided to add a “PS”  to his thoughts.  Because I’d been a public school teacher (grades 7-9, for nearly 30 years) in 3 states — Minnesota, California and finally Wisconsin, I had a fairly good perspective on the subject he wrote about so eloquently!  But, I want to add what I hope to be an important addition to his thoughts!

   Had the Lord not led me in a different direction, I would never have believed what he had to say!  However, because the church that I was a member of also had a nursery school, and I continued to love working with children, the principal began asking me to substitute occasionally, even though it was only for half-days and the children considerably younger than I was used to.
