This year’s annual youth camp in Zimbabwe was more exciting and profitable though we had a tight schedule of lessons and group activities. It was exciting as we had about 30 newcomers from different denominations in Harare, in addition to old participants. Apart from the usual spiritual leadership and worldview courses, we also had new activities introduced like examination coaching and tips as well as entrepreneurship.
It was profitable because though our budget was smaller than last year and we managed to save about 500 dollars for another training in Masvingo. We used a much cheaper venue nearer Harare, Lake Chivero with no beds and mattresses, than the one we had planned to use in Mazowe. However, youths from far regions like Bulawayo, Gweru and Chinhoyi failed to come at the last moment due to hikes in bus fares. Only 2 travelled from Mutare for the camp. Though we saved money, their failure to come reduced the number of participants by almost 20%.
