Unity?

If God desires His people to be united, to be one, then why did He scatter the nations at the Tower of Babel, and why did He choose just one people (the Jews) to be His special children. ' Also, why are there so many different religions in the world, and even among Christianity, so many denominations?

First off, lets take a look at what the Bible tells us about the Jews, Gods chosen people.
The Jews are a unique and special people according to the Bible. It seems that God chose them to be the folks who would hear and record the words of God through His prophets. Seems those Jewish folks up n turned this ole world upside down with those very Scriptures. There are about 2 billion Christians in the world today in one form or another because of those Scriptures, even causing a whole heap of pagan folks to give up their false Gods. So when we think about it, the Jewish people have likely influenced the world more than any other group on this earth.
God also chose the nation of Israel to be the people that Jesus Christ would be born from. God didnt have to have a chosen people but thats how God decided to do it.
