First off, what are angels and where did they come from? The answer is that God created them to be His servants as He created us to be His servants. I Peter 3:22 says, Who has gone into heaven and is at the right hand of God, angels and authorities and powers having been made subject to Him. In one sense they are like us - they had a free will, they werent forced to serve God. Lucifer was high ranking angel who chose to rebel against God and led a third of the created spirit beings in rebellion against God.
So then who is Satan? Is he a real being? What is his purpose? Is there anyone more evil than satan? What is the history of satan? First of all, satan was once an angel himself. He was the highest ranking angel of all the angels. His name was Lucifer which means son of the morning star. He was highly favored by God.
Lucifer was a created being - created by God Himself. Colossians 1:16 tells us, For by Him all things were created, both in the heavens and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities - all things have been created by Him and for Him.
