We Are Shipwrecked Without Doctrine

   “So that we may no longer be children, tossed to and fro by the waves and carried about by every wind of doctrine, by human cunning, by craftiness in deceitful schemes.” (Ephesians 4:14 ESV).

   We are at a place in this nation where we have nearly surrendered all critical thinking, and all sound doctrine. We have been sold a lie, and swallowed the hook of a strong delusion. Too many in the churches have surrendered the sword of the Word of God in exchange for the comfort of the couch, and for the passions of the flesh. The fear of the Lord has taken a back seat to the fear of man, and the approval of the crowd rather than the approval of the King. 

   Doctrine is important.  It provides a set of guardrails by which the believer can stay on track with Biblical truths as a result of proper hermeneutics using biblical exegesis to allow the biblical text to speak to us rather than reading into the text, called eisegesis, whatever we wish to see there. Doctrine is a result of the collection and the harmonization of Scriptural Truth. When we combine and evaluate the teaching of the Scriptures on a given subject in such a way that each of the Scriptures complement one another, and we then draw conclusions that do not contradict any other Truth of the Scriptures, only then have we constructed sound Biblical Doctrine.
